bOUNCE-INTO DJing
From introducing recordings to performing with vinyl to producing records, the Disc Jockey has been with us in various guises for over 100 years. During this perod, the DJ has been hugely influential in how music has been written, produced and sold. The DJ’s needs have led to the creation of new types of music, (Reggae) and pushed other genres into the public domain through the DJ’s presence in Radio.(Rock ‘N’ Roll and Hip Hop.) With a history like that I was born to be involved!! Well, its about the music and it goes something like this.
bOUNCIN ITS YOUTH
We bOUNCED, we partied, we danced, which lead to the Head Of Education Department, (Jennifer Gormley) and the Head Of Music, (Eamon Durey) simply asking, WHATS THIS ALL ABOUT THEN AND COULD YOU EXPLAIN IT TO OTHERS?? We scratched heads, broke down our technique, style and presentation into digestible, bite size portions and fed them to the eager pupils, young minds and hearts, teachers and youth leaders who turned up to our Introduction Sessions. This evolved into a series of ‘one off’ b Hands On DJ Workshops in Youth Clubs and Schools, as well as being included on Youth Justice.
bOUNCIN DJ Beginnings
The high demand for courses of this nature was evident from an early stage, the Creative Industry in general was becoming a more attractive option to many and this lead to bOUNCIN DJ Courses, four to ten week programmes, digging a bit deeper, into the styles and techniques of the DJ Performance. All this provided us with a firm basis for our Curriculum Design and Development Work with The Nerve Centre and CCEA from 2003, resulting in DJing being available as a Performance option to all Music GCSE candidates. We continue to work and develop the A Level Option as well as adapting courses for anyone from Primary School to Higher Education. The exciting thing is…It’s Just Begun!! Beats The Future…Future bOUNCIN!
Today, we have bOUNCIN DJ. Our belief is to put Hands On Music, Hearts In Music to Love Your Sound. That’s what 33 years of dancing to music, 29 years of listening to music, 21years of buying music and 10 years of playing music has led us to believe and base our courses on. bOUNCIN dJ Courses aims to nurture a passion for music through education, investigation and hands on participation. We’ve found our courses lead to increased musical awareness, boosts self-confidence through newly acquired skills which have allowed past DJs to appreciate the art as well as the techniques behind DJing. (If you don’t believe us check the nice comments in our TESTAMONIES!! Note, not one comment is from our parents!!)
Whether a participant wants to run a Mobile Disco, aspires to be a Radio DJ,has thought of nothing else than how to become a Club DJ, or is just plain inquisitive, we believe all our courses should provide you with a good understanding of equipment, the musics’ origin, how tracks are structured and their affect on people. By mixing styles and influences from the past and present, we are creating the future dance floors, by sharing our skills of Performance, Producing and Promotion. bOUNCIN dJing does exactly this, to physically and mentally move participants with their music,within their event, as part of their industry.
